What I was up to

An overview of stuff I was working on or other stuff that kept me occupied in October 2020. Inspired by the movement of /now pages.

This month I decided to start learning iOS development, so I’m spending some of my free time going through an online course.

It’s going well! I looked into iOS development a long time ago, but at the time I decided it wasn’t for me. At the time I had other learning goals, and I found Objective-C too inaccessible. I’m more comfortable with the challenge now, and Swift is a lot more accessible to me.

I have a few ideas for apps that I’d like to make, mostly for personal use, so I have a clear goal to work towards when I feel like I’ve learned enough.

In terms of activities, that’s mostly it really.

Entertainment

In terms of entertainment, I’m looking forward to playing games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Star Wars: Squadrons when they come out in the next few months. In the meantime, I’m playing some Civilisation VI and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. TV show wise, I think we’re running out of stuff we want to see. That’s tricky.

We’ve been playing a Dungeons & Dragons campaign with a couple of people since the beginning of the pandemic, and that’s one of our weekly highlights.

Reading

I’m still making my way through Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Series. Currently I’m listening to The Last Hero with my wife.
