What I was up to

An overview of stuff I was working on or other stuff that kept me occupied in March 2021. Inspired by the movement of /now pages.

Projects

At Boords, I’ve been working on some smaller improvements throughout the app this month, but one thing I’m kind of proud of is some new interactive tours we’re going to show to new users soon. It’s not revolutionary, but a lot of libraries or frameworks for Tours are quite messy, so I made a new one that feels like it actually fits within a modern React app. I’m quite happy with it.

Music

Like last month, I made another song to accompany my partner’s time-lapse video of their digital painting. The time-lapse can be found here on tiktok.

Making songs for small videos is proving to be a fun challenge. It keeps me making music, which is great.

Slump

Besides all of that, things are actually not going well at the moment. I’ve been feeling down a lot. There are several reasons for this that I don’t really want to go in to here. The end of the quarantine feels in sight, but it’s still dragging on.

Entertainment

I’ve been playing a whole lot of Stellaris recently, a strategy game. It feels like it has a lot of depth, and I like all the little random events that pop up while playing it. It is a bit slow though.

I’ve also started playing Outer Wilds, because it’s very well rated and it looked interesting to me. It’s great so far, but I haven’t played that much yet.

In terms of series, we raced through our rewatch of Parks And Recreation, and are now rewatching some seasons of Brooklyn nine-nine. Both are fantastic shows.

We’re still going through Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series in the form of audiobooks. Currently we’re listening to Snuff. I’m kind of dreading how close we’re getting to the final book.

I didn’t get to reading Becky Chambers’ new book. I hope I’ll get to it soon.
